The Suns won 104-88 on Monday over the struggling Wizards. The win for the Suns makes it ten straight over the DC area team. The Suns now stand at 14-19 on the year while improving their home record to 7-8. The record is good for 3rd in their division as they are 6.5 games back. The team does not seem capable of catching the Lakers or Clippers in the division, but could play spoiler from here on out as they do tend to surprise teams. This has been especially true this season as they have been very up and down.
The Suns got 20 points from Gortat who led the team in scoring. Frye added 11 boards to lead the team in rebounds. Steve Nash also contributed to the win by collecting 11 assist. The team started off hot scoring 31 in the first. They added 32 in the third, which was the most either team scored in a quarter on the night. The Suns did ease up in the end as they were outscored 27-19 in the fourth. In the first three quarter though, they outscored the Wizards 85-61.
The Wizards move to just 7-25 with the latest loss. Their away record falls to 3-13 this season as well. The team had little success, but played their worst basketball in the third when they scored just 13. The most they scored in any quarter was the fourth. They scored 27 in that quarter, in large part, due to the Suns holding back and easing up down the stretch.
