The Diamondbacks faced the Braves on Tuesday in Atlanta as they looked to improve their record that has hung around the .500 mark for sometime. The Team, however, was unable to do so as their pitching suffered early in the contest. Offensively, the team had no pop either while failing to adjust to a good pitching performance by the Braves’ Hudson. Arizona ended up losing the game 8-1 due to these circumstances.
Arizona did get eight hits in the game, but left a lot of runners on bases. One of the team’s hits was a homer by Kubel, which was his 11th of the year. The team fell behind 5-0 after giving up a run in the opening inning and four more in the second. They would be unable to rebound from this and the Hudson pitcher that they started would be credited with the loss, which moves his overall season record to 3-2. The team, as a whole, falls to 37-36 on the year.
The Braves got 17 hits in all against Arizona. Bourn hit his seventh home run of the season for the team. The Braves Hudson pitched wonderfully allowing just one run in the third inning to Arizona. He earned the win and is now 6-3 on the season. The Braves improve their home record to 16-17 with the win and are 39-34 overall. The team must improve their home mark if they plan on being a viable playoff contender at the end of the year. If they can play at home like they did Tuesday, this should not be a problem.
