The Suns have been anything but good so far this season, but made steps to change that on Wednesday against the Knicks at Madison Square Garden in New York. Behind a strong performance, on both sides of the ball, the Suns were able to win 91-88 and secure a win to move to 5-9 on the season. The Knicks dropped to 6-8 on the year following their very poor performance shooting.
The Knicks star tandem of Anthony and Stoudemire made just 12 shots combined on 44 attempts and as a team the Knicks were just 37 percent shooting on the day. Stoudemire did end up leading all Knicks scorers with 23 points and added 7 rebounds while Carmelo got just 12 points and 11 rebounds on the night. The Knicks are showing most that talent does not always equal wins, while Anthony and Stoudemire may be realizing that what they had before felt a little better then now.
The Suns, on the other hand, shot well on the day converting 46% of their shots. Steve Nash led all scorers in the game with 26 points and added 11 assist while playing like he did when he won the MVP award. Grant Hill added 14 points along with Sheldon Brown who may have hit the biggest shit in the contest. Up just 2 points, late in the game, Brown fired a 3 from the corner that went in after bouncing off the front of the rim then nearly bouncing off the top of the backboard before finding its way through the nylon. From there the Suns would hold on to get the victory.
